Windows sandbox redesign

September 2, 2026

  • Replaced the Windows QEMU/WHPX backend with a fresh custom WSL2 distribution for every task
  • Removed bundled Windows QEMU, Guest Agent, kernel, disk-image, and nested-virtualization dependencies
  • Disabled Windows-drive automount and Windows executable interoperability inside the sandbox
  • Limited host exchange to validated archives of the private captured copy and made each distribution disposable after its task
  • Added an early WSL2 prerequisite check and fast deterministic release-layout validation

Official macOS and Windows release

August 29, 2026

  • Released the macOS 13+ build for Apple Silicon Macs
  • Released the Windows x64 build; Windows 10 version 2004 or later and WSL 2 are required
  • Added download links and version information for each platform
  • The macOS release is signed and notarized by Apple. The Windows website installer has no Authenticode signature and may trigger SmartScreen. Automatic updates use a separate signed update channel.
  • Enabled signed automatic-update manifests for both desktop platforms
  • Completed platform-specific menu bar or system tray integration, secure credential storage, and global shortcuts
  • Updated the download experience, documentation, FAQ, and platform metadata for the two production releases

One Agent, disposable full-permission sandbox

  • Embedded the MIT-licensed local coding-agent SDK as a signed desktop sidecar
  • Routed copied text, files, multiple files, and directories through the same Agent flow
  • Added an explicit per-capture permission grant before Agent startup
  • Gave the local agent root, shell, network, package-manager, and tool-install access inside a disposable Linux VM
  • Kept host originals, credential stores, and paths outside the private captured copy unmounted
  • Added streaming tool activity plus text Diff and binary-artifact review
  • Added Hash-checked batch Apply and AES-256-GCM encrypted group undo
  • Added independent macOS Gondolin/QEMU and Windows QEMU/WHPX sandbox backends

Client-first provider architecture
